The 57th winner of the 1000 Guineas, held on Thursday 5th May 1870 over the Ditch Mile, was Hester (6/4 fav), a bay filly by Thormanby out of Tomyris, owned by Mr Joseph Dawson. The winner won by 2 lengths in 1 minute 51.5 secs, with a head back to the third. A field of 10 runners contested the race which was worth £3,750 (Equivalent to £412,500 in 2017)
